Feng Shui

Feng Shui is not ‘fortune-telling’ or ‘religion’. It is also different from the Interior Feng Shui that can be easily applied. Feng Shui originated in China over 4000 years ago. Initially, the purpose of using it was to bury one’s own ancestors in the land that has good Feng Shui so that their offspring would enjoy good luck and prosperity. Later, Yang House Feng Shui for living spaces was introduced in addition to this burial (Yin House) Feng Shui.

Feng Shui was allowed to be used only among emperors and wealthy people. With the great secret of Feng Shui China was prosperous. Japan and Korea who had been trading with China asked to share the secret art. China was afraid of other countries gaining power and becoming stronger through the use of the secret and possibly attacking her. In the end China modified the basic knowledge of the art and passed it onto her trading partners. Therefore, in traditional Chinese Feng Shui, there is no theory of Kimon (Demon Gate) that is used in Japanese Kaso (Feng Shui/house divination).
